Our Next Race!

With the Warrior Dash looming this Fall, we figured it was about time to sign up for another race! In about 4 weeks we will run the Memorial Day Dash for the second time. We ran this race last year, and it went pretty well. We've started to add in some running to our training, in addition to the work we do at Crossfit CFT, so we can't wait to see what this race brings!

This race will be our 24th race, which is CRAZY! We originally set out to run 10 races, but that seemed too easy and we wanted to raise more money for the Prostate Cancer Association, so we upped it to 20 races. We've obviously surpassed that at this point, but we're not done with Team G Shock yet! We plan on continuing to run races, and maybe mix it up with a few other things here and there. So please keep coming back for more information and let us know if you want to help us find a cure for prostate cancer.

Warrior Dash!

I know Team G Shock hasn't been racing as often these past few months, but now that things are settling down, we're ready to kick it back into gear! We're looking at some local upcoming races, and will have more on that soon.

One race that we are super excited about is the Warrior Dash! It is coming to Tennessee for the first time this year, and we can't wait! We've reached out to some friends, but want to put it out there that if anyone is interested in joining us, check out the website here and let us know! We would love to have a good showing for Team G Shock so come on out and conquer the course with us!

Event #23 - Runnin' To Beat The Blues 5k

I know, I know, I know, its been a LOOOONG while since we updated the blog. But, I promise, we have a good excuse! But before we get to that, let's update you on our most recent (even though it was almost a month ago) race.

On March 26th, we ran the Runnin' To Beat The Blues 5k. This race was another case of not a lot of running, but many days spent at Crossfit CFT since the last time we had run. So we were excited to see if that helped us improve even more. Rain was promised, but lucky for us, it did not show up that day. The weather was great and the course was one we had run a few times before, which was nice. We ended up running one of our top times yet. Not our fastest ever, but pretty close.

Here are the official results:
167th place - Sara Ross - 30:35
169th place - Nate Towne - 30:35

And here are some photos from the event:

Before the race - no rain, YAY!

After the race!

If there's a mascot, we will get a photo with it! :)

And now onto our excuse for being absent.....Team G Shock got MARRIED! :)

We had the most perfect wedding on the most perfect day with most of our friends & family in attendance. It was a wonderful occasion, and we had a blast. But now we are finally getting back to real life (which is now married life!), so its back to Team G Shock! We are figuring out our next race, and will update you all soon! Until then, GOOOOO G SHOCK!

We're Still Here!

I know the blog posts have been few & far between these last couple of months, and I wanted to apologize to that. Wedding planning has taken over and we're only 17 days away (ahhhhh!). But in the meantime, we're still planning on running for Team G Shock and we've got some plans in the works. Our next race will be next Saturday, March 26th here in Nashville! Its our last weekend before the wedding, and what better way to kick it off? We'll be running the Runnin' To Beat The Blues 5k in Centennial Park, where we've run a few other races already. We've been keeping up with our Crossfit CFT training, so we're excited to see where it takes our running.

In case we don't get to update the blog, wish us luck for the race! I'll be sure to post results before we head off for our big day!!

GOOOOOO GO SHOCK!!

Event #22 - Nashville Predators Fangtastic 5k

Sorry for the delayed update! On Saturday, February 12th, Nate & I laced up our running shoes and hit downtown Nashville for the Nashville Predators Fangtastic 5k. We ran this race last year, so we knew what to expect. Luckily this year was much warmer which helped a lot.

Last year before this race, we hadn't trained a lot because it was SO cold out the months leading up to the race. That was obviously reflected in our time. This year, we hadn't run since around Christmas for the same reason, but we had started training at Crossfit CFT. For those of you who don't know what Crossfit is, you should check it out. Its been an incredible experience so far and we're in much better shape than we've ever been. We were excited to see how our training would effect our running (if at all), and did it ever. It wasn't our fastest race, but with the lack of running, and the hills of downtown, we were very excited with how we did. And as a bonus, we felt MUCH better throughout the race and at the end. So with our continued Crossfit CFT training we're excited to see how it will help Team G Shock!

Here are the official race results:

466th place - Sara Ross - 32:39
467th place - Nate Towne - 32:39

And in typical Team G Shock fashion, we took a few pictures before/after the race for you all.

before the race...felt good to have those jerseys on again!

after the race - 22 down!

enjoying our free tickets to the Preds game! :)

We've already signed up for our next race - details on that coming soon!

Tomorrow is Race Day!

Thaaaaat's right...Team G Shock will run our 22nd race (unbelievable) tomorrow morning!! This will be our 2nd time running the Nashville Predators Fangtastic 5k so we're hoping to do better than we did last year..we'll have to wait and see!

The race starts at 10am, so while you're running your weekend errands or having your morning coffee, don't forget to send good thoughts our way!
